IMPORTANCE OF PURIFYING THE MIND

IMPORTANCE  OF  PURIFYING  THE MIND

What is the use of purifying the mind and when is it to be done? Mind should be kept always pure, only for the reason not to allow any negative thinking inside. The purified mind does not allow any unwanted thoughts which disturb you in your spiritual practice.  This purified mind only can attract the presence of God and shall work according to HIM.  Through this mind, you can find him inside you and need not search for him outside.

When the mind is not pure, His energy can’t enter in us but stays outside.   In the olden days, rituals and good behavior was prescribed to prevent impurity from coming inside this human mind.  This does not bring purity into the mind.  Purity is already available inside i.e., the ATMAN, which is pure always, we have to connect our mind towards it and attain purity.  God within in the form of Atman is always pure.

In NC, purity is transmitted through the ‘translitting’ method from the Master.  This purity received by the practitioner experiences the lightness of mind as well as transformation towards perfection.  One day it happens, HE comes inside without your knowledge or prior intimation.  Purity only can bring Him and not any worship.  Worshipping Him without purity is a waste.

All the pilgrimages are prescribed to conduct with mental purity.  Pilgrimage is a long journey towards reaching some pilgrim centers.  If this pilgrimage centers are charged with purity with deity’s presence, purity can be drawn from this place by the pilgrim through the pilgrim’s purified mind, which helps him throughout his journey without any trouble.

Today we have confined Him to idols and puja-rooms.  We have to open the heart, but if it’s impure He cannot enter. When he comes into the Heart, we have to vacate ourselves to the maximum and allow Him to stay as the owner, i.e. we have to be like a tenant in our own house, thinking that it is His house. He will use our own faculties and create what is necessary to keep the house fit. Thinking that the body is His, we must keep the mind pure. Even if the body is unhealthy we must care for it, like a tenant up keeping a house. He will not repair the house (body) as he lives in the mind, but will give the guidance to maintain it. Whatever be the condition of the body (all diseases are due to one’s own samskaras) we have to take care of it through proper medication.  We know very well that we can change a physical house but not the body.

We must negate from our mind and experience His presence there.   Mind should be allowed to run it the way He wants, leaving everything to him. We can only convey the problems, and not to pray, and He will give the right thoughts. He cannot work alone without our faculties which should be handed over to Him like a driver.  How to know whether He is available in me or not?  It is very easy.  If you are living in the present forgetting the past and future, it confirms his arrival into your mind.  That is a wonderful condition which does not allow your mind for any attachment to anything as yours. You will be in condition of accepting everything without a permanent resistance.

We pray to solve problems, unaware that it’s due to our own samskaras. Nobody is free from problems; we can only maintain our old body, like maintaining on old car but cannot get a new body in this life.

In India we can think of Divinity as we are practiced of accepting the problems, unlike in the West where they only want comforts. In spite of India being a poor country with little facilities, it could produce the Upanishads and at that period people only thought of Him, not minding the problems. But today we do not have time to think of Him, and he cannot help to solve your problems.

In NC, remembering the Master is one of the methods of purifying the mind.  That helps the practitioner to receive more energy from the Master. During the silentation practice, we are not thinking anything except the Master, if the thoughts are disturbing the practitioner. Otherwise blankness is prescribed to maintain.  Blankness confirms Master’s energy working inside.  This blankness expands during the non practice hours improving your purity.  If this purity is increasing, gradually you will be detached from the problems. Doing the practice is only to increase the purity of mind.  More purity is injected during Satsanghs and attending the Satsanghs is a must as far a practitioner is concerned.          Troubles are unavoidable in today’s life. By making the ‘I’ inactive, you will be able to accept the problems, like the rishis did in the old days.

NC practice makes the mind pure, irrespective of your intelligence, brain, property, money etc. possessed by you.  With a pure mind, it is very easy to experience His help, even unexpectedly sometimes.

In NC there is no object of worship, which requires ‘I’.  Continue the practice, there is no material requirement. No problems will arise in practicing silentation.  Adjust your schedules for at least one silentation a day, (though it is prescribed to practice twice minimum per day) either in the morning or evening.

To strengthen Him inside you, reduce the feeling of ‘I’.
