Messages Golden 251 to 300

GM-251

“YOU MAY BE AN UNCONSCIOUS INSTRUMENT THROUGH WHICH POWER MAY FLOW TO ANOTHER”

O’ Master,

Let the stream of love flow on and on

It will bring life and loveliness;

It will bring calm and happiness,

Let the stream of love flow on and on,

Unhindered and unblocked by fear or inner storm

If you serve with pure and whole-hearted devotion, it must all go well with you and you will feel more blessed every day.  The strength of all service is in harmony and tolerance.  To bring even a shadow of anything else would be to weaken it.  The spirit of self-surrender and prayer will enable us to accomplish this.  There are certain qualities we require to love and serve,- introspection - deeper vision, fervor of spirit.  To love truly is the greatest triumph of life.

When we talk about good qualities and sterling character, we must first try with us before we expect these from others.  Actually all the best qualities are available in us, but it is hidden.  When we do a research, we can find it.  Spiritual training is to find out these lost qualities in us.  Our selfishness, which is negative, covers all these qualities in us.  This selfishness stands as a great rock of obstacle to dig out these vibrant qualities.  When we connect with our beloved Master, He enters in us through His divine transmission and removes all the negative qualities one by one and uncovers the positive.  We should have the patience and forbearance.  The more we are patient; we accumulate spiritual power, which can protect us in later stage.  We will definitely reach a stage, when the transmission takes place from us to others, giving them solace, courage and power to live.

Thoughts for the day:-

O Thou Inexhaustible Source of my being!

My heart and soul yearn for Thee

Purify my vision, that I may perceive Thy bounty and the fullness of Thy blessing

Help me to realize that when I have Thee I have all things

Thou art the Source of all my wealth and wisdom

Fill me with Thy blessed Presence

And may I find all my joy and strength in Thee

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“TRY TO HAVE LIVING SPIRITUAL INTUITION AND FEEL THE PULSE OF OTHERS”

O’ Master,

Let the stream of love flow in thy soul, unbarred,

Hinder it not through fear,

Nor let petty thoughts block its course

Let the stream of love flow on

It will wash and clean;

It will revive and redeem.

Unless you can do everything through intuitive observation, you will have to be told always what to do and your service will be lacking.  There are three types of people, - one serves by intuition, by direct inspiration; another must be told or corrected once only and never forgets; a third type must be told again and again and never remembers.  Try to belong to the first type.

Spiritual training under a living personality gives lot of benefits to the practitioners.  He can live in every practitioner to give intuition time to time.  He being a living example, we can follow Him in his principles and thoughts.  The Master inside called ‘My Master’ has got tremendous power to give us intuition.  When we reach the condition of blankness through NC spiritual practice, all the thoughts vanish.  In this condition, the first thought during silentation has to be considered as His thought and follow it.  When the practitioner is fully internalized Him, there will be regular intuition to serve the society and the Nation.  Every opportunity to serve the society and Nation should not be discarded. Understanding others is a good habit in spirituality.  This understanding only can give you inspiration to serve them with love and affection.

Thoughts of the day:-

May the All-loving Master grant unto me a greater understanding?

That I may serve His children with true wisdom

May He fill me with spiritual yearning?

And may I manifest His Divine Spirit in my life and action

May His love infill my heart and make me a worthy instrument in His Hand.

Yours lovingly,

“TO RAISE THE STANDARD OF THE WORLD WE MUST RAISE OUR OWN STANDARD”

O’ Master,

Thou hast vanquished my formidable foe by Thy coming;

He fled before Thee as night before the day,

I feel safe now that Thou art come

Stay Thou always near me

For I have no strength apart from Thee.

A little association with worldly life is good, when it shows the difference between that and the spiritual life.  Through it we gain knowledge to help others and understand our position better.  Everything depends on our attitude and motive.  When they are right and unselfish, we are perfectly safe.  The basis of true serve lies in realizing oneness with our Divine Master.  Each individual gives what is uppermost in him.  He cannot give more or less.  He can give only what he has.

When we posses very little, how can we give more to others?  Through spiritual practice and by the help of our beloved Master, we can possess more and more.  This possession of goodness and positive qualities should be transmitted to others.  Unless otherwise we lift ourselves, how can we expect a lift in the society?  Today’s society cannot be lifted by material and political people.  It has to be raised only by saintly people, who possess all the best qualities.  All of us must be prepared to life ourselves to the expectation of our Master.  Social reformation is not an easy job.  We know, this society is a group of selfish individuals.  What is that we have to reform now?  Make them to understand that we have come to live together and not with selfishness.  All the selfishness people will be happy when they get help from self-less saints.  We should try to change them through love and kindness.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou who art the Resting-place of all souls,

Kindle in me a new light,

May I never live in the darkness of selfishness and ignorance?

May I strive always to manifest Thee in all I say and do?

Grant that I may see Thee in all living beings and learn to transform evil into good, hatred into love!

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-254

“WE MUST BE BOLD ENOUGH TO LOVE THE MASTER AND TRUTH

 ABOVE ALL OTHER THINGS”

O’ Master,

Lingering perfume of Thy Presence is ever leading me on

I as following its unseen track day and night

With longing in my soul.

At the present moment, it is easy for us to have faith in physical phenomenal things, things we see and hear; but, because spiritual things are not perceptible to the senses we are afraid to place our faith on them and depend on them.  Yet our Master’s Hand is ever working.  The person who knows this has infinite blessing, one who does not know it, misses the security of that blessing.  Our Divine Master’s protection and love are unbounded and unceasing.  They never fail us.  Realizing this brings wonderful rest to our soul.

The habit of loving need not be taught to anyone.  Everyone in this universe knows loving.  Here, we love our beloved Master unconditionally, without any expectation.  This unconditional love brings pleasant surprise in our life.  His blessings will be always with us, when we do not block His Love with our projection of problems in front of Him.  Problems get dissolved in His presence.  Our entire trial is to bring Him inside and make Him as MY MASTER.  This My Master is very powerful within us, who takes care of us and protect us all the times.  He becomes our ‘Margadarshi’ and guides us whenever we connect within.  Constant remembrance will help us to bring Him at the earliest.

Thoughts of the day:-

I lift my thoughts and prayers to Thee, Supreme Guardian of the Universe,

Who abidest in my heart and watchest over me at every moment

May I never live apart from Thee?

May I find all my joy in Thee?

And depend on Thee for all my needs.

May Thy blessing rest upon my life?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-255

“WHEN THE DIVINE AND THE HUMAN BECOME ONE THROUGH HIGHER SPIRITUL ATTAINMENT, SOMETHING MIGHTY IS BORN”

O’ Master,

All this glory is Thine

I am glorified in knowing this Thy infinite glory

Thou dost take our frail and faltering hands

To do Thy work

Our hands and hearts are strong

When they are in Thy keeping

This machine of life does not run smoothly unless the right conditions exist.  Meanness, pettiness, weakness, sprint from lack of knowledge of our true heritage.  We must be conscious of the Power which makes it run.  We must have feeling, the outer alone cannot nourish the loftier impulses of the heart.  It cannot satisfy the hunger of the soul. It cannot quench the thirst of the spirit.

Though the Divine is called God or the Ultimate, it cannot descend on its own, because it has ‘nothing’ to descend.  If this ‘nothing’ is attained by a special personality, He becomes ‘its’ representative.  This divine representative has the ‘Divinity’ inside.  If this acquired ‘divinity’ is transmitted to the spiritual practitioners, they also can become divine.  Here in NC, we have our Divine Master, physically present for us.  Internalization of non-physical personalities cannot give the power of Divinity.  Physical Master only can transmit from his heart to heart of his beloveds.  This divine transmission is through ‘love’ only and without love nothing is possible in spirituality.  We must be lucky to have connection with a Divine Personality in this birth itself.  Many of the people do not know this and they are only the losers.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Supreme, All-Loving Master!

Through Thy Grace alone all things are possible unto me;

I pray that through that Grace I shall be able to surmount all weakness and imperfection

Grant that my mind may be freed from all ignorance

Lead me by Thy compassionate Hand

And fill my heart with love and understanding.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-256

“HAPPINESS MEANS THAT OUR LIFE IS RHYTHMIC AND HARMONIOUS”

O’ Master,

It is rhythm of life I sing at dawn,

Calling thee to rise with new life

My mandate is to bring thee blessing from the Ever-blessed;

And to fill thy heart with joy

Dear dreamer, live in the rhythm of life in waking and in sleeping,

Then thou shalt know the spirit of my song.

It gives new courage when we meet a joyous person.  We need joy for our own upliftment and for the upliftment of others.  But how can we bring cheer to the world if we have not cheer in our own hearts?  We have a living Master, but we know that He is living only when we establish our contact with His Soul.  When we touch this Eternal Soul, we gain our access to what is everlasting.  Then we cannot feel gloom.

Happiness is a state of mind.  This state is not available always.  When we are successful in balancing our life, we have happiness most of the times.  When we meet a person who is always cheerful, we automatically get into that condition.  We have our beloved Master, who cheers and motivates us whenever we meet Him.  If we connect with Him mentally, we can easily bring a joyous mood forgetting our worries.   Harmony in life is most important to achieve spiritual goals.  Silentation is the best method through which we can attain harmony and rhythm.  When we are happy, we enthuse and motivate others.  The moment someone sees our face, they should forget their worries bring happiness.

Thoughts of the day:-

May the great Eternal One expand my thoughts through lofty aspiration?

And bestow on me gladness of heart

May my life move in rhythm with the universal Life

May my mind think in harmony with the great Mind of the Master?

May He grant me a peace that can never be broken or destroyed?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-257

“WE CAN BLOCK THE CHANNEL TO JOY AND NOTHING BLOCKS IT

 SO MUCH AS MORBID SELF-PITY”

O’ Master,

I dream now in waking,

I see with closed eyes,

I walk without feet

And grasp without hands

Since Thou hast brought me

To this unearthly and ethereal land.

Dire distress, misfortune, sorrow, and calamity – nothing can overwhelm the man who has tasted the joy which comes from transcending all sorrow by spiritual consciousness.  It is indeed a cloudy dark day for the soul when man loses sight of God and forgets through doubt and self-pity that he is of God; that his life is absolutely in God’s Hands.  No calculation or thought can bring this higher happiness.  It rises only in the heart that is full of faith and selflessness.

When we realize God, through an effective practice, we attain spiritual consciousness.  This consciousness confirms the availability of God within us.  This consciousness not only gives many positive qualities but also a blissful condition.  This bliss cannot be compared with any other joy received from materials and thoughts.  This is absolute and permanent.  Nobody can change this condition, including God.  Once anyone tastes this joyful condition, he forgets the entire world.  Because, this material world is not at all in a position to give this condition.   Spirituality is the only way to attain this bliss.  This condition can be easily attained once we attach ourselves to a person who has attained this.  Our beloved Master can give this condition to his beloveds.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Divine Master, make my life so pure and humble and free,

That the light of Thy Truth may shine in it and through it

Hold my heart close to Thy great eternal Heart

And fill my mind with Thy great eternal Thoughts

Grant that I may live and act in harmony with Thy Divine Will

And be a clear channel through which Thou dost speak and act.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-258

“WHEN OUR SOUL IS AWAKENED, WE ARE HABITUALLY CHEERFUL;

 IT BECOMES NATURAL TO US.”

O’ Master,

Thou, Friend of the poor, dist come to me when my heart was heavy with helplessness.

Now I am drowning in a river of joy!

Tell me, O Thou Merciful One, ere I am swept by this current of bliss:

What can I do to repay such love?

If we are truly sanctified we can never be unhappy.  How can anyone who lives close to the Master be anything but cheerful?  We are all struggling for a point where we shall no longer have gloomy, morbid feelings.  The world gives us a sense of incompleteness and we do not know where to look for something that is complete.  Thus we struggle and strive.  But struggle does not always bring peace, although it can pave the way to it.  Where there is exuberance of spirit and radiance of soul, we find peace and we share it with others.  We cannot help it.

A soul gets naturally awakened when the carrier or ‘I’ detaches itself from the worldly activities.

But this detachment is not possible for ordinary persons.  For this detachment only, we go for spiritual training.  Main aspect of this training is to lose the “I-ness” and detach ourselves from the material affairs.  This is possible only through negating ourselves from every material transaction and activities.  Negation also may find difficulty because we are so attached to this world.  When we connect our heart with our beloved Master and feel that everything is done by Him, we get negated automatically.  Really, He does everything once we lose ourselves.  By detaching from ‘mine’ and me, we attach to His and Him.  All our belongings belong to Him and Him only.  We start enjoying a bliss condition and get awakened all of a sudden without any advance intimation.

Thoughts of the day:-

Divine Master, Giver of all happiness,

Fill my soul with higher spiritual joy,

In the presence of Eternal Good, no evil can gain access,

In the presence of Eternal Joy, no gloom can enter;

Grant that I may live always in Thy blissful Presence and find lasting joy in Thy blessing.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-259

“WE MUST MAKE OUR CONTACT WITH BLISSFUL ONE”

O’ Master,

Our life, our strength, our joy and peace – all are in Thy Hand.

Give us what Thou wilt.

Keep from us what Thou will not give.

But this we pray;

Do Thou never turn Thy face of grace away from us?

No man can come within the radius of the Divine and not feel the burdens of life drop away.  A simple person, full of faith, full of devotion, full of openness of heart, may know a great deal more about God than a philosopher of brilliant intellect.  Sometimes it becomes a great advantage to know less.  We have not so much to unlearn.  We gain contact with God, not through intellectual keenness, but through a sense of consecration, through the feeling that He is the Guiding Spirit abiding within us and working through us. This is possible only through a Living Guide.

When we look at ourselves, we may ask this question.  Is there any goal for human life?  Today in this material world, we seldom get time to think about God and spirituality.  In olden days, spirituality was easy because people had enough time to turn towards it.  But they used to spend a lot of time in spiritual practice and worships.  In spite of all these things, few only could succeed.  First of all, many of us do not know the goal of human life.  We construct our material goals and spend the entire life to achieve.  The spirit inside us is not belonging to us, though we live in its strength.  Once we use this spirit for our material life, we forget to detach it from us because of our own samskaras.  It is really caged in us without freedom to go back to the origin.  If we understand that our goal is to send it back to its origin, we turn towards spiritual practice and God.  We have to use the energy of God through some divine personality to detach ourselves from the spirit, so that it gets freed from us permanently.

For this we have to connect to our beloved Divine Master, who can help us in this process.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Beneficent One, surround me with Thy tender protection

That I may be shielded from all that my cloud my mind or heart

Lead me from the realm of affliction and sorrow

To Thy Divine realm of joy and peace

Help me at every moment to feel Thy nearness

And may I draw my joy and strength from communion with Thee

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

EDUCATION IS UNFOLDMENT”

O’ Master,

My adoration to Thee, great One!

It was Thy mighty hand that broke the chain which held me bound upon the shifting sands of life.

The greatest service we can render anyone is to unfold his higher faculties.  Education does not mean tearing down everything we have learned already.  We do not tear down the body to find the immortal soul.  We look within for that which gives life.  When we open the mind to the radiant light of the soul, we accomplish the true end and aim of all education.

Educating is a part of our culture.  Everyone did not get education because there are very few people who are interested in educating others.  Education means communicating the best things to others, which can be useful to add up his knowledge or useful in his life, profession etc.  Whatever best that we know, should shared with others.  We should hold our knowledge for the sake of ourselves.  The knowledge that we gained cannot be lost at any time.  Because, there is no ‘matter’ in it.  Knowledge is power and it can raise certain hidden things in us.  Spirituality should guide and motivate us to give knowledge to others that we have in us.  The more we are open, as far as knowledge is concerned; we become freed from unknown things.  Unfolding is the way of spirituality.  Educating is the real way to bring the people from darkness to light.  Without education, spiritual progress is impossible.

Thoughts of the day:-

To that One who alone can guide me to light and wisdom,

I offer up my body, mind and heart,

He alone can save me from the darkness of ignorance

And bestow upon me the light of understanding

May He lead me and direct me in all things

May I depend upon Him alone.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-261

‘BY LOVE AND ASPIRATION, YOU OPEN YOURSELF TO THE ‘DIVINE BLESSING’

O’ Master,

When our thoughts rise with the perfume of purity,

We can offer them to Him who accepteth our oblation.

Whenever you try to serve your Master with spontaneous feeling, without thought of self, then nothing can resist you.  Know this, and nothing will ever be able to thwart you.  When you start with generous devoted spirit, all your efforts must meet with success.  Spirituality is a revelation.  It is revealed not only to the prophet or the preceptor, but also to the disciple who is humble, enduring and selfless.  Unless you have spiritual vision, when difficulties arise you will not be able to meet them.  You must safeguard yourself by acquiring wisdom.  Wisdom is abiding and always sustains.

We must acquire knowledge from a realized Master.  Then it becomes wisdom.  Wisdom is mere & simple truth.   All the knowledge that we receive from various people need not be truth always.  We have a goal in spirituality.  To reach the goal, we must have some knowledge about it.  If this knowledge is from a realized person, it is certain that we can reach the goal.  The truth of wisdom can be clarified with every realized Master, because He has realized the truth of wisdom He received.  When we understand many truths during our journey towards the ultimate through our beloved Master, we will be inclined to love him unconditionally.   This unconditional love helps the practitioner to receive the wisdom on the subject from the Master.

Love also creates an aspiration to travel with Him and be with Him always.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Master, grant that in my ordinary tasks of the day

I may be ever mindful of Thy guidance

Help me to do each duty with loving helpful spirit

May all that I do be pleasing to Thee?

In my work, love and aspiration, may I seek ever to glorify Thee?

Increase my endurance and grant me wisdom

That I may manifest Thy spiritual grace in all my words and actions.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-262

“BRING FULLNESS OF SPIRIT INTO EVERY TASK”

O’ Master,

If thou art unable to practice devotion, then be thou intent on working for Me.  Even by performing actions for My sake, thou shalt attain perfection. ………… Bhagavad-Gita

If you have the right feeling, you do not need any other training.  You cannot better yourself or equip yourself for your daily duties without getting a hold on the higher principles of life.  It is only when we have the higher view that our lower instincts drop away.  You must keep your mind clean and polished.  It grows dull through neglect and collects alien substances.  The secret of right action is to learn to do the greatest amount with the least output of energy.  We do this by keeping in constant touch with the Source of supply.

Though we try our level best, best performance may not be possible all the times.  Best performance means, lesser input and greater output.  For this, we require intelligence and positive thoughts.  These positive thoughts should come from the blankness without any foreign elements.  When other disturbances are removed, the remaining positive thought becomes powerful.  When we connect ourselves with our beloved Master, we get sufficient positive energy to perform.  When we surrender every performance to Him, performance becomes the best.  All our actions must be without selfish motive, and then the Divine energy from the Master flows automatically to give the best performance.

We should have the blessings of our Divine Master in our entire task.

Thoughts of the day:-

May I never fail to serve the Ideal in all that I say and do?

May there be quickened in me a new and greater loyalty to Him?

May my devotion for Him grow ever more fervent?

May I be more earnest and ardent in my love to my Master?

And may my whole life become consecrated to Him.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-263

“EVERY GOOD ACTION INSPIRES ONE FOR ANOTHER”

O’ Master,

He who, with devotion offereth to Me a leaf, a flower, a fruit and water, that love-offering I accept, made by the pure-hearted,  Even if the most wicked worships me with undivided devotion, he should be regarded as good, for he is rightly resolved……… Bhagavad-Gita

You must do your work with a sense of sanctity and not feel that it is work.  Do it in silence and without noise.  We must not talk of it and make much of it.  We must never bring a critical attitude towards it.  Better not to work at all than to work with wrong spirit.  Nothing is more purifying than unselfish work.

Anything that we do should have the purity and perfection.  Nin spirituality, everything is dedicated to Him, the Divine Master.  Whatever we offer or perform for the sake of Master, it gets purified and performance level increases.  When we do good things to the society, we are doing our duty or ‘Dharma’ and if the service is without selfishness, it multiplies its sanctity.  When a bad person does a good service, it is accepted with love.  Good things are always recognized and accepted, when it is done without selfishness, irrespective of anyone’s background.  God does not discriminate among persons when they do dedicated service to others.  By doing regular self-less services, a wicked man can change his way of life and become good.

Thoughts of the day:-

Compassionate One, I pray unto Thee to purify and spiritualize my whole life,

I have no power to do aught of myself,

But thou art an inexhaustible Storehouse of power and love,

Inspire me to noble thought and action;

List my aspiration and make me steadfast in seeking and manifesting only

That which is lofty and up-building

May I never fail to serve Thee with unfaltering faith and devotion?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-264

“A NOBLE SOUL IS ALWAYS NOBLE IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES”

O’ Master,

When a man is satisfied in the (higher) Self by Self alone and has completely cast out all desires from the mind, then he is said to be of steady wisdom.

When he completely withdraws his senses from sense-objects as the tortoise withdraws its limbs, then his wisdom becomes well-established………..…Bhagavad-Gita

Thoughts are as fragrant as flowers when it is divine and selfless.  They sweeten our life.  He who is protected bye pure spiritual thought is always safe.  Whatever we put in the soil of life, we must expect a like fruition.  The seed of discord is planted in the human heart and the spirit of in harmony is born there.  Also the spirit of harmony and peace and nobility come out from the same heart.

Spiritual training is to bring purity of mind.  This purity of mind should involve in all our transactions.

When we take birth in a good family, we inherit good qualities and good thoughts.  If someone has inherited purity of thoughts in his way of life, he cannot go wrong at any circumstances.  If anyone comes in contact with a divine personality, and accepts Him as his guide, he also cannot go wrong.

He will be guided always by his Master, physically and mentally.  Divine personalities never think of bad, act bad or speak bad.  Our purpose of going for a spiritual training is to become divine.  When divinity works in us, we become noble always.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou All-pervading Master, help me never to forget that I am a child of Divinity

May I speak only what is worthy of a child of Master

May I think only what is worthy of a child of Master

May I do only what is worthy of a child of Master

May my life be wholly one with Thy universal Life?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-265

‘SELFLESS DEVOTION TO THE MASTER PLAYS A VITAL PART IN THE SPIRITUAL LIFE”

O’ Master,

Freely am I bound to Thee

Freely do I remain bound

For Thou hast poured upon me Thy unbounded love unasked

Unasked will I make my offering unto Thee

Try to cultivate the true spirit of discipleship.  The world is so full of teachers; everyone wants to be a master; but the spirit of discipleship is indeed very rare.  But going through the form of discipleship, however, is not everything.  You must stir yourself up.  You must never go to sleep. It is too hard to awaken oneself.

For any subject, there will be a teacher.  Understanding the subject through a learned teacher is wise.

When the teacher becomes Guide, we should surrender to Him.  Surrendering happens, once we increase our devotion and love towards Him.  Disciple of a teacher is different from a disciple of a Guide.  A disciple of a teacher learns everything from his teacher to teach others.  But a disciple of a Guide practices everything what he learnt from his Guide, because Guide Himself is a practical man.

In spirituality, we require a Guide and not a teacher.  Spiritual Guide should be a Master, who does not need further learning.  A true spiritual Guide should be a ‘Gnani’ who assimilate Gnana or wisdom every time from within.  He speaks the truth always and truth is not learned from anyone else, but within. A sincere devotee or a disciple for such a Guide can reach goal within the shortest period and become another Master himself.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou All-wise One, bestow on my heart the blessing of humility,

That I may learn joyfully the lessons that come to me through this day to practice

Keep me fearless and steadfast in my devotion to the Divine Master

May I never fail in my loyalty to Him?

May I fasten my life to thy infinite Life?

And forget myself wholly in my service to Thee.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-266

“NO MAN IS CUT OFF FROM THE DIVINE SOURCE”

O’ Master,

My heart grows bold with faith as I know thy protecting love

I shall weep no more for sadness if Thou but stayed near me

I know that thy blessed Presence alone is life complete, unbroken peace, an island of eternal joy

No one can have a monopoly of spirituality.  No one can claim exclusive right to it.  It is not something cut and dried.  Spirituality means getting away from all that is calculating, cold and hard. No one can rob us of it except when we ourselves yield to our lower instincts.

The ‘Prana’ inside a prani is the cause for its life.  No prani is away from the Source as long the prani’s mind is attached to it.  Every body is connected to the prana inside but not the mind.  If the mind knows that the body is living because of the prana, the prani becomes ‘Gnani’.  Human mind has lot of resources to obtain this Gnana.  All the panchendriyas are well active for a normal human being.  If he is able to understand or realize the truth behind whatever he hears, sees, touches, smells and speaks, he can realize the ultimate truth.  If anyone is able to understand that he can connect his mind towards his Source, he must try for it.  Trying to connect with the spirit within is spirituality.  Once you connect with the source available within you, you become wise and no-one can change you from the divine path.  You become a Guide to others and divinity starts flowing from you.

Thoughts of the day:-

Help me to give myself to complete spiritual union with the source of strength and illumination

Lift me above all bondage and weakness

Make my mind so free and one-pointed that it may be full of strength

May I turn towards the Light?

That Light which reveals, the Light that redeems;

To that Light which restores and replenishes.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-267

“IF WE KEEP OURSELVES EVER CLOSE TO THE DIVINE MASTER, NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH US.”

O’ Master,

My soul is at peace since the dawn

A cool breeze of new hope hath soothed my troubled heart

Yea, the weight of life hath fallen from me

I am bathed; I am refreshed in this new life

That Thou hast mercifully shed upon me, thy undeserving child!

Spiritual life means renewal in everything, new ideas, new thoughts, and new life.  Even the body is renewed and sanctified.  We have constant opportunity to prove that we are His children.  How? Not by works, but by our love, by our service, by our life.

The more we have the attachment towards material life; we keep away from our beloved Master.  Involvement in material life is a must to live in this world.  But if you involve everything through the Master’s vision, it becomes spiritualized.  No material can take you towards Him.  It is Love; Love only can take you towards Him.  If you are not able to practice love in your life, you are not going to be connected with Him.  Love is the only media through which we get connected to Him.  Love must be always unconditional, and then only it becomes divine love.  Selfish people practice the conditional love.  Spiritual people never think of selfishness, they are always for others.  Every spiritual person practices Universal Love.  They become the assets of this Universe.  If anyone becomes very close to our beloved Master, through his purity, positive thinking and selflessness, he becomes the real benefit to Master, NC and to the rest of the world.  When the practitioner’s entry is allowed into the heart of our beloved Master, he is protected always, and liberation is guaranteed.

Thoughts of the day:-

May the Divine Master give me spiritual joy?

And make my heart free from all doubt and despair

May my thoughts and prayers always be directed towards Him?

May He fill my heart more and more with selfless love, humility,

 Patience, gentleness, and Ego-lessness

May His holiness, love and peace reign in my life?

Yours lovingly,

“THINK WHAT IT MEANS TO EVERY MAN THAT, AS HE WALKS THROUGH LIFE, HE IS ETERNALLY WITH HIS MASTER”

O’ Master,

Thou art my life’s consummation,

My abode of unbroken rest;

I lay at thy transcendent Feet

My weary heart, for its peace

In the midst of the crowd we can have quietude.  There is a sense of aloneness in the spiritual life; not loneliness, because we never feel lonely when we have spiritual consciousness with us.  We feel the Presence and that Presence seems to give us a sense of aloofness from the turbulence of the world.  Loneliness is an interior condition.  It does not come from being alone; one can be very lonely when surrounded by many people.  That man is never lonely who lives close to Him.

All of us have a kind of disorder and instability in our life.  If we have the mental power, we overcome it.  We do not have the power to overcome all the times.  We are not able to feel away from problems and worries. At the same time, if nothing is connected internally, we do not get any kind of disturbance from this world. If we are connected to the ‘nothing’, we perceive everything as nothing.  It is a mental condition to be experienced in a condition of aloofness.  This detachment proves that we are attached to the eternal ‘nothing’.  This is possible only if we internalize our beloved Master.  When the internalization is complete, we experience that we are eternally with ‘My Master’. We suddenly feel that this is not a new connection and experience as if we are connected to Him for so many decades.  This is a wonderful experience in spiritual journey.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Unbounded Spirit of the Universe,

Make me to feel Thy nearness, that my mind may be freed from all doubt and fear

May I find Thy Presence Everywhere?

May I perceive thy beauty and sublimity in all things?

Give unto me true devotion

May I always feel that thou art my Resting place?

My Source of inspiration and joy!

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

‘BE  FAITHFUL  ABOVE  EVERYTHING”

O’ Master,

My heart is Thy throne,

Humility is its pedestal;

Faith its cornerstone;

Prayers are its sweet frankincense

The lamp of my life will burn day and night

If Thou wilt come and sit upon this lowly throne.

Our Ideal may seem very far, very unobtainable. That is the time for us to show courage and strength.  Those who show courage and steadfast devotion to their Ideal are bound to succeed.  We gain the highest by fulfilling our ordinary tasks and duties.  Every duty is a privilege.  Every task that comes our way is a blessing.  Every time we have a chance to do something for Him or His children it should be a great joy.

We have to lift ourselves from the present condition, through our sincerity, faithfulness, simplicity, humbleness, gentleness etc etc.  We have to behave like a spiritual person.  Our speech, communication, behavior, everything should stand stupendous.  Above all, we should become faithful to the persons who keep faith in you.  When the task is given to you with faith, you must accomplish it sincerely and sacredly. Betrayal is the highest sin that we can do in this universe.  Honesty is the basic disposition that we are going to show to this world.  If we think that our beloved Master is cleaning us from negative thoughts and filling with positive things, we must be faithful to Him always.  This faithfulness should be practiced by following his guidelines in our life.  If we knowingly keep distance from His principles and guidelines, we are deceitful and not faithful.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou eternal One! Infill my mind with the light of understanding

Grant unto me firm resolution

That I may follow thy path with courage that never fails

Help me to draw Thee close in my heart

Teach me to lean upon thee wholly and never to seek my own will

May Thy peace and blessing rest upon me and upon all living beings?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“NEVER FAIL TO BE WATCHFUL THAT YOU MAY BE READY FOR THE CALL”

O’ Master,

I heard a voice call me at early dawn

I stopped and listened;

I strained my hearing;

My mind stretched its wings but with no avail

Now I have surrendered

Come then, mysterious One!

Tell me, why didst Thou call me?

I must know Thy will.

If we learn to do what is given us with an exalted spirit of consecration, then our actions will bear fruit in abundance.  Our life becomes fruitful only when we do things with noble motive.  The work itself is neither good nor bad, but the motive which actuates us determines the merit or demerit of every action.  The highest motive in all action is when it is inspired by some spiritual Ideal.

In spirituality, a guide is a must.  Without a proper guide, it is not all possible to attain spiritual benefits.  The guide, so called “GURU” is the person who shows the way in our life.  Respecting and loving Him is a part in spiritual practice.  If He calls, there must be some reason.  If we start doubting Him, He cannot guide us properly.  Real guide is so selfish to uplift His disciples.  His entire life is only for serving the deserving people.  This selfish-selflessness is the real character of a Guru.  In spiritual journey, we have to realize our Guru, to know more about Him and His inner side.  Once we realize Him, all the doubts will be vanished and our journey along with Him becomes smoother than before.  To realize Him, we should wait for His call and wait for an opportunity to serve him sincerely.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Supreme Spirit, who abides within all!

Awaken in my heart a loving consciousness of Thee

That in the midst of all fleeting conditions I may ever remain watchful

May I never fail to serve Thee with my whole heart and soul?

Grant unto me strength, steadfastness and firm faith to serve you better.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-271

“PRAY THAT YOU MAY LEARN TO FILL YOUR HEART WITH SELFLESS LOVE, HUMILITY AND GENTLENESS”

O’ Master,

I give my peace unto thee, but thou must give up self

Be not affrighted, my child

There is no loss in giving up self

Fear brings thee anguish and it brings thee doubt;

But doubt, anguish and fear will all leave thee

When thou hast given up self.

Love, humility and gentleness – these are the things which make us happy, these are the things we should crave for.  Souls that are full of self and full of fear are always troubled.  God will always make us happy and bless us when our heart is free from doubt, despair and harshness.  Direct all your thoughts and prayers to Him, then you will be safe from pride and egotism.

Spiritual training is for gaining positive qualities only.  Praying to the Divine is only to show our craving to gain these qualities.  Our beloved Master always reminds us regarding these qualities.  And without attaining these, spirituality has no value.  Our main goal is to get away from all the bad tendencies and connections that we have today.  We should deliberately avoid our negative thoughts and negative people.  The people with lot of desires cannot guide you in spirituality.  Our association should be with desire-less people.  When desires are lost, he becomes spiritual.  Life without Love is not considered as spiritual life.  Our spiritual training is to attain maximum best qualities in us to become a saint and realizing the truth. When self-less attitude develops, we can realize the Self.  Selfishness is the membrane in us covering our selfish qualities which never allow us to go within to know the real Self.  Self-realization is one of the mile stone in spiritual journey.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou All-abiding, All-loving One!

Manifest Thyself in all my thoughts, words and actions,

That I may transcend the limitation of the little self;

And draw nearer to Thee through selfless devotion

Make my heart glad and peaceful and fearless

May I always feel Thy presence within my soul?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“WE CANNOT BE ABSORBED FULLY BY THE MATERIAL AND ENJOY THE SPIRITUAL”

O’ Master,

VERILY, Thou art self-lumination, - all is lighted up by Thy Presence!

The paths of my inner and outer life lie clear before me;

I need no other light to find my way out to Thee

I shall carry no light save one – the lamp of Thy grace

A person whose faculties are all active on the outside is ever bound.  It indicates a great sense of poverty to go outside for everything.  A wise man, when things go wrong, turns within himself.  If a blow falls upon him, he does not take it; he withdraws himself from it.  A man of small nature, who lives in the outside world, goes out to meet the blow and strikes back.

The outside world is so attractive for an ordinary person who gets absorbed into it.  Our senses start working towards it always forgetting our real goal.  The senses which fully engrossed in material life cannot understand the enjoyment of spiritual life. Enjoying material life does not require purity of mind, but desires are sufficient.  But for spiritual enjoyment, we require purity removing our impurities. Spiritual training is for removing impurities of mind and to obtain purity.  Our beloved Master’s divine transmission through the medium of love removes all our impurities gradually, once we are regular to our ‘sadhana’ and Satsanghs.  Once these impurities are removed, we slowly get detached from our material side, attaching towards spirituality.

Thoughts of the day:-

May I seek only that which is uplifting;

May all my thoughts, words and actions manifest Divinity

Guard me from all selfishness and harshness

Bless my life and give it power and strength for Thy service

Fill my heart with thy peace and Thy blessing.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-273

“IF YOU KEEP YOUR GAZE FIXED STEADFASTLY ON THE RIGHT COURSE, NO ONE CAN TURN YOU OBACK”

O’ Master,

None shall hinder thy forward course

For I guide thy steps

Place thy hand in Mine and walk with faith

Where I am there is no ill

Fear not, but walk forward with faith

Light will come;

For where’er I am there is light.

As we learn to face our problems without being fait-hearted, we are sustained and helped in every way.  Strength, inspiration, power to do, will come.  We must always remember that however hard an experience may be, it always holds something for us.  When these things come, we must not convert them into a tragedy by giving way to them.

The moment we identify a problem, we immediately become weak.  This weakness reduces our strength to find out the solution.  Problems are forever and solutions are many.  Spirituality is to give courage to face the problem and nullify the effect of it.  If anyone expects that problem should not come, he is a fool. Your expectation may fail.  But you can prevent it by reducing the chances of problems.  When the transactions are more, with a sense of target, problems are inclined to come.  When you identify a problem, please relax (by closing your eyes) immediately by remembering our beloved Master for few minutes.  Study the state, origin and effect of the problem sincerely, you will find the solution within no time.  It is very difficult to find a solution in a tensed condition.  Ordinary persons find solution in a state of tense but a spiritual man gets the solution in a relaxed state.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Almighty One, wake me from my slumber of ignorance

Help me to feel Thy unfailing protection and sustaining power

May they make me invincible and resolute?

Bestow on me thy abiding blessing.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-274

‘THE ONE WHO LACKS IN RESOLUTION AND TRANQUILITY, IN VAIN DOES HE SEEK KNOWLEDGE”

O’ Master,

My restless mind, wandering and tired,

Sitteth in Thy Presence in rapture,

Like a thirsty bird that drinketh the rain-drops

On a sultry mid-summer day.

We have no right to make ourselves so much a slave to circumstance that we lack resourcefulness.  We should be so resourceful that constantly we have something to contribute to ourselves first, then to others.  We should never give way to discouragement or to a sense of aloneness.  We should be glad when circumstances offer us opportunities for aloneness.  We should utilize these moments to cultivate the love of high ideals and learn to reflect them in our life.

Knowledge is power and the spiritual knowledge is powerful.  When we are busy in our day-to-day routine life, we tend to forget ourselves and concentrate in our transactions.  Though we forget ourselves, all our transactions are for us only and not for others.   In this busy situation, we always try for aloofness, so that we can relax for sometime.  This loneliness should be experienced, while we are busy in our transactions.  If you try for your relaxation of mind, you seldom get it.  Because, mind is always busy in our life.  This busy mind loses the capacity sometimes to take right decisions at right time.  Here spiritual practice helps us to maintain a relaxed mind to take right decisions.  Once we connect ourselves to our beloved Master, we become resourceful.

Thoughts of the day:-

Thou, All-wise One, art the Source of my life and power;

Reveal thyself unto me that my mind may be freed from doubt and darkness

May my thoughts and prayers be worthy?

That I may gain access to thy Infinite Light

Through it all things are known

Fill my heart with that Light, leaving no room for aught else.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-275

“NEVER RAISE VOICE OR HAND WHEN ADVERSE THINGS COME.  TRY TO ENDURE ALL FOR THE SAKE OF MASTER.  THIS WILL BRING TRUE STRENGTH”.

O’ Master,

When Thou dost stand behind me, my whole being is vibrant with strength;

Life’s upheavals vanish and world’s onslaughts touch me not

Teach me how I may keep Thee with me always

I am ever with Thee, but Thou knowest it not;

Thou dost not look toward Me with Thy inner eye.

From the lack of fortitude and self-control, we bring misfortune on ourselves.  When people thwart us, what a consolation to know that we still have our place in our Master’s arms.  No matter what may befall us, it is wonderful to know that we have our union with Him.  We are partakers of a divine heritage.

Spiritual practice is to gain more tolerance and patience in our life. Spiritual valued person never raises his voice or hand when he is in unpleasant situation.  His capacity of tolerance is tremendous and he finds any obnoxious situation gets dissolved by itself.  When we internalize our beloved Master, we get the power of sustenance and peace.  We should think that how our beloved Master will behave in this adverse situation with His power of spirit.  Definitely, He will not create any horrific situation.  His condition of love clears everything automatically.  When we think of our Master during our difficult situation, we can also get His capacity of tolerance and love.  We will not feel that we are in trouble.

Thoughts of the day:-

Supreme Master, I pray to Thee with yearning heart,

Do Thou fasten my life to the Path of Truth?

Thou only cast make me firm and enduring

Make thy way known

And grant that I may walk in it, looking always to Thee for guidance

May I never turn my gaze away from Thee?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

‘IN SEEKING THE LESSER WE OFTEN LOSE THE GREATER”

O’ Master,

Holy Eternity, boundless Glory,

I crave to invoke Thee

But my tongue hath no utterance!

I long to follow Thee,

But my feel are fastened to the ground in wonderment

Wilt thou not remove my fetter of self

That I may follow Thee always without hindrance?

A person who looks from a low point, his judgment is always erroneous.  A majesty comes when we look from a high point.  A person who identifies himself with the wrong end of life loses his spiritual grandeur. Have a lofty point to think up. Build around that, cling to that, and your life will be renewed.  If you keep a stream flowing the water is continually fresh.  In the same way if we keep that higher channel open, a perpetual renewal takes place.

In material life, due to our desires, we lean towards lesser valued objects in spite of our knowledge that we are losing greater things.  Temptation towards truth less friends cannot be avoided due to our sentiments and emotions.  Our Master says, we should spend the least materially valued, but at the same time highest spiritual valued one, i.e.; LOVE to gain material and spiritual things.  All materials seem to be very small once we start experiencing spirituality inside. When money can satisfy everything in material life, love can give everything in spirituality.  For spirituality, we need not spend anything materially or spiritually.  Internalizing our beloved Master gives sufficient knowledge about lesser things that we should not aspire.  Continuous spiritual practice proffers unexpected wisdom which never takes us towards smaller things.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou who art the Light of the Universe,

Grant that I may have access to Thy Infinite Light

All things shine after Thee

It is Thy Light which reveals all things

Reveal Thyself unto me that I may be renewed and filled with thy Divine wisdom.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-277

“WE MUST FIRST SEEK THE BLESSING OF OUR DIVINE MASTER”

O’ Master,

I ask for naught

Save what Thou placest in my hand at Thy pleasure

World’s treasure is empty and sordid to my soul;

It only burdens my mind and heart

Even a grain of Thy blessing fills my whole life with true joy and peace

I crave naught but Thy grace

When Master blesses us, everything that we do, everything we touch, is tinged with His blessing.  If we have found this in our consciousness, we carry it everywhere.  It is not only sometimes we have it; we have it all the time.  Even in our blunders, when we fall down and make mistakes, we know even then we cannot be crushed; we cannot be lost; because we have something which is entirely ours.

Seeking the blessing of our Divine Master is not at all a difficult task.  His blessings are freely available to everyone who loves Him too much.  This love brings you purity of mind, creating a vacuum of yourself.  This vacuum automatically draws Master’s blessings without your knowledge.  Master never gives blessings.  You have to loot it.  Internalization will help you to surrender yourself, and the surrender pulls you towards Him.  Once anyone is successful to obtain a place in the heart of our beloved Master, his struggle in life is over.  He gradually detaches himself from the material world, utilizing every material that he possesses.

Thoughts of the day:-

May my heart be freed from all doubt and despair?

May it find peace through Thy Grace?

Through thy grace all things are possible unto man;

Even the lame can cross the mountain and the dumb become eloquent

Open my heart to Thy blessing that my life may find its fullness in Thee.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-278

‘NO ONE CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS AT A TIME”

O’ Master,

Serving is my sole right

Selection of My Master is the same

I have only one heart to keep one Master, My Master

My Master is my breath, my guide, my life itself.

No one can stop me my attitude of serving.

Masters are many in this universe.  Identifying the right Master is the difficult task.  We get confused in different principles, dogmatism and religion.  We also get someone to lead us.  But, are we really satisfied with that?  First of all many of us do not know our goal. The guide also sometimes becomes incapable of showing the right path and communicates the right message.  The real traveler continues his search for a proper guide to reach his goal, continuously.  Once he is able to find his guide, he stops his search and experiences him as his God-father, beloved and everything.  This guide can definitely take him to his destination.

In NC, we have our beloved Master, who loves always and stays with us when we are in hard times.

A real guide always will be with us until we reach our destination.  We are all children and may commit errors during our journey.  Guide becomes mother, father and a best friend to us.  If we are not able open our mind towards Him, He may not be successful in his endeavor.  Highest co-operation with the Master gives maximum results.  Since God has given only one heart, it is only for My Master, and not for anyone.  If the present Master is not able to take us till the destination, he must take us to the next capable personality, who can lead us further.  Once we get the right guide, we can select Him as our Master for the whole life.

Thoughts of the day:-

O’ the wonderful guide and loving father,

I am yet to receive Thy full love and affection

Take me in Thy shoulders when I face my hard-times

My craving may not be sufficient to receive thy blessings

Still take me into thy divine heart

May I forget myself and remember you

Bring me solace and spiritual love.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-279

“THE MAN OF FAITH ATTAINS WISDOM AND ILLUMINATION”

O’ Master,

Flame of faith, let Thy radiant glow

Help me to find those who are in dark

And bring them to Thy light

Thou dost put courage in my heart

And quicken my body with new life,

And mind with undying vigor

Thou blessed Flame!

Burn Thou without ceasing, in my heart

And let me walk on the path of life

Without fear, doubt or thought of self.

By the power of faith one can remove mountains, bondage breaks, and sins are wiped out.  Through faith the sick are healed and the lame walk.  People who have not faith, nothing can be done for them.  But it is not negative faith that can remove evil.  It is not dogmatic faith that can heal or work miracles.  It is a faith that takes form in action. This faith is fundamental and finds expression in wisdom and loving service.  Be full of such faith.

Every faith cannot be successful.  But the faith in the Master with sufficient purity can help to remove our hurdles.  If the purity of mind is not there, there is no value for faith.  Faith for selfish means cannot work in spirituality.  When we obtain purity of mind through a vibrant spiritual practice and advanced Spiritual Guide, every faith can give results.  Faith in the Master is welcome in NC but not mandatory. Incidentally, Master takes care of His people, who have surrendered to Him.  Faith will help one to surrender.  And surrender gives the freedom to Master to work on the surrendered, the way He needs to work.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Supreme Giver, rouse in me undaunted faith

Kindle in my heart the fire of wisdom

That by its light I may see and feel thee everywhere

All my power comes from Thee

May I use it wholly in thy service?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“BE NOT DISHEARTENED.  NEVER LOSE COURAGE”

This, my little vessel, is tossed and tossed by the angry waves of life.

If Thou dost not hold the rudder and guide its course

It will break and sink

At Thy will, tempest will cease;

At Thy command, the sun will light the dark;

In Thy Presence, my fear-stricken heart will embrace peace.

Fear and depression have no place in the realm of Spirit.  We all have to pass through the slough of despondency sometime or other.  You must not let your spirit go down under any circumstances.  Do your duty bravely and faithfully.  Never feel that your life is a failure.  Try not to brood over such ideas.

Basically, spiritual practice is to give courage and strength.  Here in NC, we have our beloved Master who always motivates and encourages us to face problems.  Problems are for ever and solutions are eternal.  Our connection with our Master is also eternal and steady.  Our trial of internalizing Him should happen at the earliest.  His presence in our mind gives tremendous courage and wisdom.

Spiritual Master gives incredible power comparing to the power of knowledge.  This implausible spiritual power takes us further in our life to live with problems.  Courage is our strength and accomplishments are not possible without it.  If we live with our beloved Master, we get motivated all the times and the fear complex vanishes automatically.

Thoughts of the day:-

Help me, O Lord, to make my heart pulsate in harmony with Thy holy Being

Thou art my one sure Refuge

Thou art my one safe Protection

May I never yield to heaviness of anxiety?

But may I rest all my life in Thee and be at peace.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-281

“THINK NOT OF SELF.  THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT THINGS TO THINK ABOUT”

O’ Master,

Time will pass,

Nay, time exists not in love

Love will melt time and all but One

Then the anguish of thy heart

Will cease in serene contemplation.

Selfishness places a terrible weight on the life.  When we are tied by selfishness, the soul suffers.  We feel weighted down with life because we have no higher avenues of expression.  Self-limitation always defeats a man, but if we can turn our mind and heart to the Master, it will make our faith stronger and stronger, and give us joy, selflessness and true devotion.

Selfishness is the deadliest enemy in spirituality.  God’s pure energy cannot work in selfish people.

They never experience God.  They will be in search of the divine.  They seek help for their selfish motive.  Selfish people also get help through their earlier deposit of good samskaras.  But God never helps them.  But for a saint, he never depends upon his samskaras, or punya, he is continuously helped by the divine.  Our beloved Master is capable of helping anyone who possesses purity of mind.  In NC, the main purpose is to gain purity.  Master gives sufficient purity through his transmission and translitting methods.  The purity never allows us to think of self and work selfishly.  NC Master is only for selfless people and selfish people seldom get connection with Him.

Thoughts of the day:-

May the All-loving Master of the Universe

Quicken my soul with new life and a deeper understanding

May He surround me with His protecting love?

That I may be safeguarded against selfishness and all that leads me away from, Him

May He inspire me with more and more love?

May He increase my devotion and strengthen my faith.

Yours lovingly

GM-282

‘THERE IS NO CALCULATION, NO BARGAINING IN TRUE LOVE”

O’ Master,

Lo, they came to rescue me with their frail boats.

My heart shivered with apprehension and I cried aloud;

Current of love! Current of love!

Carry me swiftly where Thou wilt

I want no rescue!

We look at beautiful scenery, we love it, but we ask nothing from it in return.  We love it because it is beautiful.  We should love the Master in the same way, because He is the most lovable being in this world. Such understanding love is the greatest gift in life.  We get more than we ask for when we reach that point.

In spirituality love should be divine, without expectations.  Love with conditions and expectations become ordinary material love.  We love the Master simply for the sake of love and not for anything.

Probably the expectation and goal must be to get ‘nothing’ from Him, because He can give that ‘nothing’ only and not anything. Everything has come from ‘nothing’ and if we are successful to gain ‘nothing’ we can get everything what we need to live in this world.  When we love our beloved Master, there cannot be any calculation in giving it.  Bargaining something for your love is highly negative.  When we give material love to Him, He gives us divine love.  When we give divine love to Him, He gives us super-divine love to us.   He does not expect anything from us expect our mind, not even our material or divine love.  He is Super-Divine, (Parabrahma condition).  Personality in this condition never demands anything from anyone.  He gets everything automatically.

Thoughts of the day:-

All-beneficent Master, enlarge my heart that I may love Thee with wholeness of being

Do Thou rouse in my soul an ever greater and greater power of love?

May I learn to give myself without reserve or calculation?

Grant that I may never again fall under the bondage of self

But look to Thee always for guidance and protection.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-283

“FREEDOM IS A CONDITION OF GREATNESS; IT IS SELF CAUSED.  WE BIND AND FREE OURSELVES”

O’ Master,

Those who constantly practice this teaching of ‘Mine’ with true faith and devotion and unflinching heart, they too are freed from the fetters of action. But those who find fault with ‘My’ teaching and do not follow it, such self-deluded ones, devoid of all knowledge and discrimination, know them to be ruined…….. Bhagavad-Gita.

As long as our mind is confined and narrow and self-centered, we can never bring anything fruitful into our actions.  We must live in the material world without becoming material.  We must gain knowledge without the arrogance that learning sometimes brings.  From our thought comes our inspiration for action.  When our mind is peaceful and focused, we gain a tremendous power for usefulness.

Surrender is the utmost condition required in a spiritual practice.  If anyone is not surrendered to the divine Master, his life’s protection cannot be in the hands of Master.  Protection is His ‘Dharma’ and surrendering is our Dharma.  Our ego increases, when we learn and know many things and we say ‘I know everything’.  Bookish knowledge only increases the ego, because it cannot give any inner guidance.  Inner guidance comes only when you increase your purity.  Purity can be increased only through a ‘Satguru’ and not from any book.  Our self should be surrendered to get the freedom from the selfishness.  When we free ourselves from the clutches of ‘selfishness’ we become ‘self-less’ and attain His-ness, or His availability in us.  Once anyone starts experiencing that he is not doing, but He is doing, he has surrendered himself to Him.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou All-beneficent Master, who alone knowest my innermost feelings,

Who alone canst answer my prayers,

I open my heart to Thee with childlike and guileless simplicity.

Do Thou free me from all that is unworthy, - from pride, ambition, vanity and egotism?

From all that binds me to my lower selfish nature.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-284

“WE ARE MADE STRONG BY OUR THOUGHT, WE ARE WEAKENED BY OUR THOUGHT”

O’ Master,

Those whose ignorance is destroyed by Self-knowledge, their knowledge of the Self, like the sun, illumines the Supreme.  Those whose heart and soul are absorbed in ‘That’ Supreme, who are steadily devoted to ‘That’ and regard ‘That’ as their highest goal, they go never to return, their sins(impurities) being washed off by wisdom…….. Bhagavad-Gita.

How necessary it is that we guard our thoughts and do not make evil contacts.  If we do not guard our thoughts, we shall be the losers.  We contact the high points and the low points of the universe by our thought.  If we keep our mind on a high point with steadfastness and continue to hold it there, the result will be a great awakening.  If it is not held there, it will drop to a low point.  It rests with each individual to determine where the mind will make its contact.

When we live in our material life, we have desires, ambitions, anxiety etc.  because we are not happy with the available things.  We think only in lower levels with selfish attitude.  We look for safety and protection to safeguard our properties and wealth.  We forget that all these things are going to belong to somebody one day.  Why do not we think today itself all these materials are belonging to Him and not to me.  I am only the user and maintainer. We selfdom want to detach from our self and our belongings.  When we connect our self with materials, it cannot give us purity.  We should try to connect with a ‘vaccumised mind’, where we can draw purity.  It is very in NC to get purity.  Here our beloved Master is there with us all the times, who loves and transmits His purity to all of us.

Thoughts of the day:-

I offer up my thoughts and my prayers to the Supreme Master

May He make my heart in tune with the great Infinite Existence?

May He shake off from my mind all petty, ignoble thoughts?

And fill both mind and heart with loving, harmonious and pure feelings

That through these feelings, I may gain contact with His Divine Being.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-285

“DO NOT LET US PLAY FALSE WITH OURSELVES”

O’ Master,

He who, restraining the organs of action, sits holding thoughts of sense-objects in his mind, that self-deluded one is called a hypocrite.  But he who, controlling the senses by the mind, follows without attachment the path of action with his organs of action, he is esteemed….. Bhagavad-Gita

You must order your life in such a way that you need not explain yourself.  Your action will suffice; your word will suffice.  Whatever thought we send out to the world, we receive similar thoughts in response from the cosmic universe.  A thought is like a note in music, it produces a volume of sound which has a broader scope than we imagine. We may think that our thoughts are only for ourselves, but they cover a large area and have a wide influence.  That man is noble, who thinks and does his best when he is unseen and unheard.

Many a time, we do not know that we are playing false with ourselves.  We think that we are safe with our knowledge, property, wealth etc.  We create such thoughts that we are good people and not harming others.  Are we prepared to analyze ours elf that we have only good thoughts and good actions in our life?  How a smoker disturbs his surroundings and others through his smoking, people with negative thoughts disturb others and surroundings without their knowledge.  Once you practice NC, you become sensitive to understand the negative thoughts of others and sometime get disturbed by standing near to these negative people.  This is because your purity gets disturbed by the impurities of others.   The same way we can also disturb others with our negative thoughts.  Do not be negative at any cost.  Be with the Master, you seldom become negative.  Your ‘My Master’ should spread the purity to others.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Embodiment of all blessing,

I lift unto Thee my prayer with guileless heart,

Free it from all discordant feelings

That I may sense Thy Presence with me

And breathe the atmosphere of pure holiness radiating from that Presence

May ‘It’ purify and strengthen me

And make me more worthy.

Yours lovingly,

“HE WHO HAS ATTAINED CONQUEST OVER SELF, NO ONE CAN OVERWHEL HIM”

O’ Master,

I was sad to think of all lost opportunities;

But Thou, Divine forgiver, hast called me again to sing before Thee

My heart is full of gladness!

Strange that my mind knew not it was Thy voice that sang in me,

And Thy music gave its rhythmic chord.

All our miseries spring from self-interest. Self-interest makes us unsteady and calculating.  A man who can go over the rough places and still maintain his ardor, that one is blessed.  He is a great asset to himself and to others.  Unless we learn the art of living, we cannot maintain steadiness.  No one need think that some special place or condition will give it.  They help, but unless we ourselves cultivate it, too often we throw away our opportunities to exhibit it.

Basically spiritual training is to loose the I-ness and selfishness.  Everyone try to grab something or other from this world.  Few persons are interested to give something to this universe.   These people are called saints.  A saint never asks anything from the nature.  It provides everything to him.  His mentality is to do something to this world and the people surrounded him.  Do we have the time to say ‘our problem’ instead of my problem?  We do not have interest and time for it.  Every individual who are all not spiritualized feels that his problem should be solved first before others’.  And they have never ending problems.  This life time is not sufficient to solve the individual problems.  And when are they going to serve the society and the nation?

In NC, we connect ourselves to our beloved Master and obtain His condition of life.  Life becomes very easy and peaceful.  We start feeling for others and our nation at large.  Our selfish attitude vanishes with the purity of our Master and we become self-less. No one in this universe can give trouble to these persons who have obtained the condition of self-surrender.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Infinite Love, in this silent hour

May I feel Thy love and protection?

May I rest in that love and lose all fear and weakness

In both my sleeping and waking may I have the consciousness of Thy Presence

And may that consciousness destroy in me all self-interest and self-importance.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“WE CAN MAGNIFY OUR PROBLEMS AND WE CAN MINIMIZE THEM”

O’ Master,

If, actuated by egoism thou thinkest; “I will not fight,” in vain is this Thy resolve.  Thine own nature will impel thee…. Take refuge in Him with all thy heart; through His grace thou shalt attain Supreme Peace and the Eternal Abode”……… Bhagavad-Gita

No one can solve our spiritual problems for us.  No one can hinder their solution.  We ourselves hinder our own life and spiritual possibilities.  We must find some higher way of working out our problems and the practical way is the higher way.  When a man becomes conscious of his spiritual value, he will no longer be tempted to do anything petty or ignoble.  If we do not order our life, if we do not fortify ourselves, how can we hope to flourish?

Everyone has material problems.  But how many have spiritual problems?  Unless otherwise anyone is interested in spirituality, how he gets into problems?  Spirituality starts with a problem of craving for something non-material.  The craving for a non-material leads to a higher personality, who can solve this initial problem.  This higher personality or guide solves the initial problem of craving by giving peace, courage and love, all are non-material.  Further the aspirant’s problems should be identified by himself.  In case he is succeeded in finding out his spiritual problems, he can inform his guide about it. Because the first three stages in spiritual journey is possible for an aspirant when he religiously practices the NC system.  The advanced spiritual conditions of Truth realization, and through Truth realization, gaining wisdom and at last reaching the condition of performing Dharma, is possible only by the sincere help of Master.  If Master takes care of your work, your problems get minimized.

Thoughts of the day:-

May that One from whom nothing is hidden,

May He surround me with His Blessings?

And guide me by His wise and unfailing Hand

May He give me strength and wisdom to follow His Path?

Through His grace, may I learn to be divine abiding in all my thoughts, words and actions?

Yours lovingly,

“MAN IS BORN ERECT”

O’ Master,

“He by whom the world is not afflicted and who is not afflicted by the world, who is free from elation, envy, fear and anxiety, he is dear to Me.  He who is free from all external dependence, pure, efficient, unattached, undisturbed and has given up all selfish undertakings, he who is thus devoted to ‘Me’ is dear to ‘Me’. …………. Bhagavad-Gita”.

The first stepping-stone to manhood is manhood itself.  A man must be a man.  He must exemplify manhood.  What is a gentleman?  He is gentle, big, and noble; he is independent of opinion.  He does not think evil.  Evil thoughts are as creative as good thoughts.  A man cannot have happiness until he has obtained certain qualities of mind.  When he has obtained these qualities, nothing can overthrow him.  Utilizing the spiritual side of a person is spirituality.

Every baby when it takes birth is neither negative nor positive.  The way it is brought up, it becomes positive or negative.  Basically everyone has more positive qualities than negative.  The parents need not identify the positive qualities of a child, because it is inborn.  Guardians must be in a position to read the negative side of a child.  If we remove the negative part of a human being, he becomes fully positive.  In spirituality, negative qualities are not accepted.  Since spirituality itself is positive, negative people cannot gain anything from this practice.  At the same time, if anyone with negative qualities joins in a spiritual training, he looses all his negative side and gradually becomes positive.

Whosoever comes to NC practice irrespective of their origin gets transformed automatically with the help of Divine love of our beloved Master.  Surrender to Him, everything happens, and He takes care of the surrendered.  Nothing remains with him because of gaining the ‘nothing’.

Thoughts of the day:-

May my thoughts turn to Him from whom comes all my blessing

May I bring unto Him with childlike simplicity my actions and all that is produced through my actions

May He sanctify my life and every part of my life

May nothing be hidden from Him;

May nothing remain without His sanction.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“YOUR WHOLE NATURE IS BUILT OF THE THOUGHTS YOU HOLD IN YOUR MIND”

O’ Master,

“Therefore, at all times, think of ‘Me’ and fight (perform actions).  Having offered thy mind and intellect to ‘Me’ thou shalt without doubt come unto ‘Me’…………. Bhagavad-Gita.

If you think of holy things, you become holy.  If your heart is always filled with love, no hatred can penetrate; nothing can mar your peace and tranquility.  But the law works the other way also.  If you are careless and let alien thoughts persist, they will change your nature.  Whenever you criticize anyone, or find fault with anyone, or think evil of anyone, that evil comes to you. By dwelling on a saintly character we become saintly.  That picture of saintliness will inspire us, throw light on our path and transform our nature.

Spiritual practice is to bring saintly thoughts in us.  Real saints are always holy and staying with a holy saint gives holiness to us.  Whenever you think, you should use your brain to know whether this thought is going to be destructive or constructive.  If it is destructive, try to change immediately.  All the negative and sadistic thoughts never help anyone for his spiritual progress.  Here in NC, the more you connect yourself with our divine Master, you loses the tendency of thinking destructively.  Our main goal of becoming a saint should happen through our spiritual practice.  Otherwise practicing NC has no value.  Saints acquires maximum courage and boldness because of purified mind.  We should not think of quitting this NC practice until otherwise we become saints.

Thoughts of the day:-

Grant, O’ Master, that through this day nothing may disturb the peace of my thought

May I radiate love and joyousness?

May I keep my eyes fixed upon Thee?

And meet each problem with courage and surrender

Help me to keep my heart pure and full of devotion

And at all times may it rest close to Thy Divine Heart

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“IT IS NOT BY THINKING OF OURSELVES WE SAVE OURSELVES”

O’ Master,

“Those who, surrendering all actions to ‘Me’ and regarding  ‘Me’ as the Supreme Goal, worship ‘Me’ with single-hearted devotion, for them whose hearts are thus fixed on ‘Me’, I become ere long the Saviour from the ocean of this  moral world of birth and death”…….. Bhagavad-Gita.

Great souls are never caught in the net of the personal.  They are not conscious of small, petty things.  When people lack higher idealism, they give way easily to brooding and despondency and they depress others.  We cannot conceive of God as other than all-loving.  Fear is not the seed of spirituality.  More we are actuated by love, more inspiration we shall have, more imbued we shall be with higher feeling.

Ordinary people always think of themselves because of their selfish attitude.  Selfishness never leads to God or saintliness.  Think of Him who is pure always in His mind and actions, and who can really help you on your genuine needs.  Remember Him constantly to avoid your selfish thinking.  We all are aware that without our beloved Master, our NC practice has no value.  Our divine Master never selects anyone for spiritual advancement, we get selected by our sincere practice and love towards Him.  He has no discrimination.  Merit is valued and not mere service. Surrendered persons are preferred for  higher levels.  Serving the Master without purity and love never brings any kind of spiritual progress.  All of us can do material service to Him. But we must reach a position to do spiritual services to Him, helping Him in his spiritual activities.  Surrendered persons have no time to think of themselves.

“THINK OF HIM AND FORGET YOURSELF”.

Thoughts of the day:-

All-pervading Master, quicken in me a new sense of Thy Divine Being

That my little-self may be lost in Thy great Self

Make my heart humble and free from all selfish concerns

Grant that I may always extend a helping hand to others

And lose myself utterly in service to all thy children

May I trust at al times to thy saving Grace?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-291

“WE MUST KEEP OUR MIND PURE, WATCHFUL AND OPEN TO THE HIGHER REALM OF THOUGHT”

O’ Master,

Forsaking egoism, power, pride, lust, anger and possession freed from the notion of “mine” and tranquil; one is thus fit to become one with the Supreme.  Becoming one with the Supreme, serene-minded, he neither grieves nor desires; alike to all beings, he attains supreme devotion unto ‘Me’.

….Bhagavad-Gita.

The reaction of one who keeps on brooding is gloominess, like a thick cloud.  We can never afford to take a discontented or careless attitude. When we understand the law of life, it is seldom we take a frowning attitude, towards ourselves, towards others or towards God.  No aloofness from our fellow-men can insure us connection with the Heart of the Divine Master.  When we perceive that a thing is detrimental, what can we do?  Counteract it.  In the presence of light, darkness vanishes.  In the Divine presence of Master, evil falls down without any intimation.

We say the kingdom of God is so pure, lofty and ideal.  Where is this Kingdom available?  Where there is no King, domain cannot be formed.  We have to create this Kingdom in our heart by bringing the King inside. This heart King is the ruler of positive thoughts and controller of negative thoughts.

It is the divine Master who is mentioned here as the spiritual King.  We have to bring Him in our heart at the earliest for our stay in His kingdom.  Purity is the main cause to bring Him inside.  Let us create positive thoughts and act positively.  We should attain holiness with the help of our beloved Master.

NC practice is to create purity and the purity is to bring Him inside.  Rest of our life will be in His hands and worrying about the future gets stopped silently without our knowledge.

Vacating ourself from our mind brings Him inside without invitation.

Thoughts of the day:-

May I realize more and more that my life is what I make it by my silent thoughts and actions?

May I never yield to vanity, discouragement or envy of others more fortunate than myself?

May all my habits of body and mind be wholesome and strength-giving?

May I be faithful in the performance of each task?

And never grow weary or prove unworthy of blessing.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-292

“WE DO NOT LIFT OUR BURDEN BY CEASING OUR WORK

BUT BY LEARNING HOW TO DO IT”

O’ Master,

Therefore, being unattached, perform thy duties (the work that ought to be done) unceasingly; for through the performance of action, unattached, man attains the highest…. Bhagavad-Gita

If we want to succeed in life, it must be through unification of effort.  All parts of our being must co-operate.  It is not enough to have material prosperity, we must also have spiritual knowledge; otherwise we cannot truly prosper.  We must not keep on doing those things which are detrimental to our soul’s well being.  Under anger, fear jealousy or vanity, the better part of us suffers.  Vanity is one of the greatest drawbacks in human life.  It springs from a shallow nature.

Spiritual knowledge is a must for a person who wants to perform well.   Spiritual knowledge is to remove all the unwanted knowledge and bring purity of mind in spiritual practice.  It teaches our own duty ie: “Swadharma”, irrespective of our caste and religion.  As long as we do not understand our Swadharma perfectly, it becomes very difficult to perform every task in a better way.  Spirituality gives sufficient inference regarding purity of mind, Swadharma (not responsibility) love and art of living.  Since the soul inside us is full of purity, we must perform everything with purity of mind or purified thoughts. Purified thoughts do not disturb others but give love.  Our soul or spirit is the small representation of the unlimited Holy Spirit, which may get satisfaction only when we do some good things to the carriers of other small spirits (human beings and other animals).  The main hindrance in us is the “Negative Ego” or I-ness which prevents us from doing any kind of noble service.  Once we attach ourselves with the Divine Master, we start losing this Negative Ego, strengthening our Positive Ego.  This positive Ego helps us to perform every duty as the best and pure.

Thoughts of the day:-

May I realize more and more that my life is what I make it by my silent thoughts and actions?

May I never yield to vanity, discouragement, or envy of other more fortunate than myself?

May all my habits of body and mind be whole-some and strength-giving

May I be faithful in the performance of each task?

And never grow weary or prove unworthy of blessing.

GM-293

“THE GREAT SECRET OF LIFE IS TO LEARN TO MAINTAIN AN EVEN TENOR

IN THE MIDST OF ALL THINGS”

O’ Master,

The steady-minded, by giving up all attachment for the fruits of actions, obtains peace, born of steadfastness.  The unsteady, being attached to fruits through desire, is ever bound by action…..Bhagavad-Gita.

We must give up, not because we are dejected or battered.  We must give up because there has come a certain ripening within.  Life as a rule does not run evenly.  It has many ups and downs.  It has many changes. But those who have found the way of wisdom have learned how to maintain evenness in spite of all the unevenness which circumstances offer.  We do not accomplish this by calculation or by any material means.  We accomplish it by going within and attaining inner tranquility.

Many a people do not know how to balance their life.  Our mind wanders here and there in search of something or other.  When the material searching is continuous, balancing our life becomes difficult.

Balancing comes in rest or relaxed condition.  Aspiring for material benefits all the times, create tension and stress all the times.  Where is the question of relaxation?  Though the body and mind are working, mind can relax.  When the mind is attached with body, it loses its strength of tranquility.

Spiritual practice is to tranquilize the mind to give mental peace and balance.  Since the balance is taking place only on rest, we have to give rest to our mind and not for the body and brain.  When our mind is full of ‘ourself’, keeping balance in life is almost zero.  When we connect ourselves to a person who has balanced in his life, with ‘nothing’ inside, we get solace and rest.  The more we love; this ‘nothing’ in this personality will be transmitted to us gradually to give tranquility in life. All our attachments should be detached from us and attached to this ‘divine personality’ including our thoughts and actions.  He takes care of His properties and wealth along with thoughts and actions very well but not responsible for ours.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou who art One and All-abiding Master, I offer up my thoughts, words and actions unto Thee

Grant that each act of the day may be an act of devotion; Thou art the Source of my being;

I turn to Thee in whole-hearted love and trust In Thee alone do I find rest and satisfaction?

From Thee alone can I draw life and strength?

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-294

“THOSE WHO WANTS ‘NOTHING’ GETS EVERYTHING”

O’ Master,

Those who worship “Me” and meditate on ‘Me’ without any other thought, to these ever steadfast devotees I secure safety and supply all their needs (I carry their burden)……. Bhagavad-Gita.

One can have nothing, yet possess a sense of princely heritage.  What is renunciation? It is giving up self-limitation; it means no longer yielding to a lower order of things.  So many people want happiness with a fervent longing, but the fever of self keeps them from attaining it.  As our outlook changes, we outgrow the limitations of greed, pride, envy and all the narrowness of the little self.  An awakened soul is never touched by earthly things.  When we have very high fever we are delirious and everything is distorted.  So with the fever of the world-it makes us lose our sense of proportion.

In our material search, we want everything and not ‘nothing’.  But in spiritual search, we should be in search of ‘nothing’.  This search of ‘nothing’ gives away all our attachments and become light in the travel.  Travelling towards ‘nothing’ is very comfortable and safe.  This ‘nothing’ is available in us only and not outside.  This is also called God-within.  The Ahamkara or self-pride covers this ‘nothing’ in us and we never get connected to it to get any help.  With the help of a Divine Personality, we can start searching ‘it’ and our search will be successful one day.  The Master in NC guides us to find out the ‘nothing’ in us.  Until we find ‘it’ He, being ‘nothing’ takes care of us with love and protection.  Constant remembrance of our beloved Master brings the power of ‘nothing’ in Him to us to protect us from negative things.  We must acquire the capacity to get His ‘spiritual energy’ through our love and sincere practice.  Dedicated spiritual practice brings purity of mind and blankness.  Purity and blankness along with sincere love and devotion attracts His energy to serve us.

Thoughts of the day:-

May the Divine Master liberate me from the bondage of desire?

Through His grace may I never forget that He alone is my Wealth and the source of my life

May I seek no possession apart from Him?

May He help me to realize that the objects of this world are fleeting and perishable?

That He alone is eternal, unchanging and indestructible.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-295

“FORSAKE HARSH SPEECH”

O’ Master,

From anger arises delusion; from delusion, loss of memory is caused.  From loss of memory, the discriminative faculty is ruined and from the ruin of discrimination man perishes.  But the self-subjugated attains peace and moves among objects with the senses under control, free from any longing or aversion…. Bhagavad-Gita

Let there be nothing harsh, nothing discordant in your heart.  How can anyone dare to be unkind?  If you were not thwarted, how would you practice forbearance and fortitude?  Humility, gentleness and forbearance will save you.  Great souls, when they are humbled or condemned or crushed, rise up stronger than ever.  Arm yourself with gentleness and non-resistance and you will always be safe.  A lasting impression is made only by a subtle gentleness.   Aggressive methods never create anything enduring.  Be passive during tough times to avoid tension and stress.

In initial spiritual practice, we require the power of discrimination to get away from negative people.

Every attachment with a negative element creates impurities and does not allow traveling further in spirituality.  Though we lose our negative thoughts, our mingling with negative people influence us in creating negative thoughts and actions.  Our entire endeavor fails once we lose the capacity to keep ourselves away from unwanted elements.  In advance spiritual conditions, the practitioner never gets affected by negative people nor influenced by them.  The truth is, no negative people will be associated with this advanced spiritual person nor can they.  Then the capacity of indiscrimination starts, losing the fear of negative people and negative elements.  In NC, our Master suggests to get rid of unwanted people from our life to avoid negative thinking and actions.  We must associate only with ‘Sajjan’ or good thinking people or saints.

Thoughts of the day:-

Thou who art the Embodiment of all blessedness,

Grant me the blessing of kindness, forbearance and gentleness

May I never hurt or would any one of Thy children

I open my heart to Thee’ cleanse it of all selfishness and harshness;

And fill it with thy Divine Love.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

“WE  LIFT  OUR  THOUGHT  BY  CONSTANT  REMEMBERANCE  OF OUR MASTER”

O’ Master,

By the steadfast practice of meditation with unwavering mind (not moving elsewhere) and constant thought of the Supreme Divine Being, one goes to Him……. Bhagavad-Gita

We have to meditate on something.  Our mind must dwell on some object.  According to what he thinks upon, a man can create an atmosphere of radiance, exuberance, buoyancy; and this brings joy.  Or he can carry gloom with him.  It is a matter of habit of thought.  If a man’s thought, aspiration and action are one, that man is free.   He does not blunder.  We must build up our own life by our noble thoughts.  There are many ways by which we can do this.

In NC, we meditate on silence, which is the language of God.  In fact, we are not meditating but silencing our mind through silentation method.  This silencing of the mind gives tremendous courage, enthusiasm and spiritual power.  Constant remembrance of our divine Master attracts His spiritual energy to us constantly.  This Master’s energy received by us helps us to remove our negative Ego.

By taking regular sittings from the authorized NC energizers also can help us in spiritual progress.

Our righteous thoughts and actions create purity in us, because it is our duty.  When we bring our beloved Master in us, we can think only the right things and do everything in the right way.  Internalization of Master is a must in NC to lift us from the lower thinking and material way of life.

Once it is over, we get enlightened to experience that we are not doing anything, but it is done through us. Surrender is the best way for internalization.

Thoughts of the day:-

Grant, O Master, that through this day nothing may disturb the peace of my thought

GM-297

“INFUSE YOUR LIFE WITH THAT WHICH CAN BE RELIED UPON AND TRUSTED”

O’ Master,

What hath chanced since Thou didst cast upon me

Thy merciful glance and fill me with Thy Divine Being?

Naught is left of me, or what I thought was “I”

What remains in me is Thou and Thine

The thought of self and “I”, my desires and prayers, are all lost in Thee

As we realize our higher Self or God-within, we have no longer any quarrel with life.  It is a question of blending ourselves with the Great Power.  We free ourselves by higher knowledge; and as we free ourselves, we manifest higher attributes.  We must make room for every blessing.  We must empty our heart before it can be filled.

Before realizing the God-within, we must realize our guide, who is part and parcel in our spiritual life. We have to surrender everything to Him without any condition.  We should develop unconditional love towards Him.  Then we get the experience of Internalization.  Once internalization is over, we automatically realize Him.  This realization confirms our life in His hands.  We can see Him everywhere and anywhere.  We can be sure that we are not alone, He is always with us.  He becomes the protector and God Father.  We cannot think of His separation from us.  We stop asking anything from Him, except His presence always.  The joy so far inexperienced can be experienced with Him in our heart.  This realization leads us to our further journey along with Him towards ‘nothing’.  He takes us towards ‘that’ and a continuous bliss covers us throughout our remaining life.

Thoughts of the day:-

O Thou Unchanging One, Source of my strength, my Support and Refuge, My Master,

I lay my life humbly at Thy blessed Feet;

Use it as Thou seest fit;

I am Thine own

One thing alone I ask of Thee-

That Thou wilt inspire me with holy thought

And impel me to holy action.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan

GM-298

“WE MUST FORTIFY OURSELVES WITH PRACTICAL WISDOM”

O’ Master,

He whose mind is not agitated in calamities and who has no longing for pleasure, free from attachment, fear and anger, he indeed is said to be a saint of steady wisdom. He who is free from all attachment and neither rejoices on receiving good nor is vexed on receiving evil, his wisdom is well-established…… Bhagavad-Gita

It is not everything to find out the cause of our misery, we must find some means to eliminate it; and nothing does this so well as practical wisdom.  There is no need of failing down, if we fortify our house against attack.  We fortify our houses against flies and insects; all the more should we fortify our spiritual house against jealousy, hatred, anger and petty thoughts.  If mind is not regulated, we shall not accomplish even the outer results we desire.

Strengthening our mind is the real success in spiritual practice.  All of us have positive and negative side in our life.  Negative side always is a disturbance to us and the positive side always as a motivation.  When we neglect our negative side it cannot disturb us, but may give trouble at any time, if it is not removed from us permanently.  We have to strengthen our mind against negative thinking, attitude and actions for our peace.  We have to give more strength to our mind to face negative side of everyone who are connected to us, whether they are your parents, wife, children, brothers & sisters or your close friends.  Because it is very difficult to get saintly people as your friends, relatives etc.  But, you can become a saint, by avoiding the negative side of your own people.  A saint is not against the personality, but against the negative side of these personalities.

Thoughts of the day:-

May all the pulsation of my body, mind and heart be in rhythm and harmony,

That I may feel the Presence of the Great Master within me and all about me

May the Supreme Master of the Universe bestow on me the light of true understanding

May He help me to do each task of this day wisely and with ardor of devotion.

Yours lovingly,

Subrahmanya Shiva Balan
