*Mano Nāśa: The Dissolution of the Ego-Mind*

*What is Mind?*

Mind is the bundle of thoughts, desires, fears, memories, and ego that constantly pulls us outward. The mind is the root cause of bondage, because it creates the illusion of "I" and "mine." (*_Mana eva manushyanam karanam bandha-mokshayoh_*)

*The Process of Mano Nāśa*

When the mind loses its grip, thoughts no longer disturb, and the false ego-sense dissolves. In this state, silence prevails within, where awareness remains, but without "I". It is the highest consciousness, free of thought.

Mano Nāśa happens through Silentation and Masterfulness. Constant remembrance of the Master allows the Master's energy to burn away thoughts, ego, and negativity. The abhyasi need not fight the mind directly; instead, remembrance dissolves the mind naturally. When this process ripens, the seeker enters stillness, where there is no "I." This is Mano Nāśa.

*The Result*

Mano Nāśa is the death of ego-mind and the birth of stillness. After Mano Nāśa, the person enters what is called the "Living Dead Condition" (Jeevan Mukta). In this state:

- The body continues to function normally.

- The ego is completely gone.

- Stillness lives through the person.

- Outwardly, they remain active, but inwardly, they are completely free.

- There is no inner disturbance, like a clear sky without clouds.
