Panchakshari Mahatva

Panchakshari Mahatva

Thoughts make the person; the one who has the positive thoughts is happier and the one with full f worries is the sad one. The Thoughts not only have effect at that moment but also make definite impression on the personality of the individual, which could have a very long lasting impact. In this background while the good thoughts itself would be making things better, what needs to be said about the powerful mantras that are rich in meaning as well as energy.

The supreme mantra which is very simple to chant, that can be chanted by everybody, that comes with no restrictions attached and that gives benefits to all is  the panchakshari

Pancha means five and akshari is that which contains syllables, so panchakshari has namah-shi-va-ya with five syllables pronounced together as Namah Shivaaya. The shivam denotes auspiciousness, fearlessness and peacefulness. It refers to the supreme condition of human mind known as “Eshwara” which is beyond the condition of God.

Namah Shivaaya is the chant of  salutation to Shivam with the feeling that “I” am the smallest of the smallest (anoraniyan) and “You” are the greatest of the greatest (mahatomahiyan). Reciting Namah Shivaaya invokes the Shivam within .  It is negating the ahankara(ego) and realising that everything belongs to Shivam.

Panchakshari has five syllables , so is lord Shiva with five faces. Panchakshari  and Panchamukha of Shiva namely Sadyojaatam,  Vaamadevam, Aghoram, Tatpurusham and Eeesaanam  are associated with the panchabhootas namely  earth, water, fire, air and sky respectively.

Panchakshari chanting is to remember Shivam constantly in the mind.  It   should be chanted with pure mind. To attain the purity of mind one needs to constantly remember the personality who has realized the Shivam. Drawing the energy of Shivam by remembering the Shivaguru ( a personality who has realized Shivam) destroys negativity by which the human mind is becoming pure. A pure heart alone can draw the energy of Shivam by getting connected with a Shivaguru.

When the personality becomes fully positive, it is obvious to experience the existence of Shivam within, both by himself as well as by others. In other words, we can experience the Shivam through a Shivaguru who has made the non-existing(nirguna/vacuum) Shivam as existing. He is revered as the embodiment of Shivam by others.

Namah shivaaya, therefore is the reverence not only to the non-existing Shivam, but also to the Shivaguru who has its existence.  Chanting the panchakshari with love is equivalent to remembering the Shivaguru so that we can receive the Divinity from him. This Divinity or Shivam not only destroys our negativity and creates peace but also improves the mental strength and fearlessness.

In spirituality human mind is transformed into the condition of pure brahman known as the  condition of god.  Shivam is  available as a hollow(nothing/vacuum) beyond the human mind. Condition of God is interior and the condition of Shivam is beyond  god’s condition which is ulterior. Unless and until  the mind becomes pure reaching Shivam becomes difficult.

All of us know that there is a power beyond the human limits. This power is available within the human being himself. But this power can be available for a person by attaining purity of mind. Basically spiritual practice is to gain this purity.

When the mind loses the negativity completely that becomes pure cosmic  mind (Brahmam). This purity does not have any power, simply because it is pure.

Shivam exists as hollow beyond the pure mind through stringent penance. This pure mind can attract Shivam which is beyond the condition of Brahmam(God). This hollowness or Shivam has the power to destroy the subtle ego available in the pure mind. Thereafter Shivam takes care of everything.

Doing penance is a tough task for a materialistic man of today. Therefore he can remember the personality who has realized Shivam as a representative of Shivam.  Chanting panchakshari along with the remembrance of this personality can help everyone to destroy the mental problems and negativity if any.

Problems are really created within the human mind and not outside.  If the problems within the human mind is removed one can experience the peace, auspiciousness and fearlessness. If these three positive conditions of the mind are developed human beings’ negativity such as fear, anxiety and worries will  disappear.

Since the nirguna and non-existent Shivam can neither allow   anything to enter inside nor receive anything from anybody all the offerings to Shivam are respectfully offered to the Shivaguru who is alive and able to accept.

Those who revere Shivam in the form of Shivaguru get benefits like purity of mind, capacity to  lead  a life with minimum required comforts, reducing desires and expectations, losing negative qualities and tendencies.

To avail the benefits of Shivam, panchakshari should be chanted continuously remembering the Shivaguru  in the heart with love and respect. Chanting panchakshari with the remembrance of the Shivaguru can get solutions for our problems. Problems are either by nature or created by human beings.

Chanting panchakshari must be made as a habit by every human being to get connected with the Shivam through the Shivaguru creating  peace as well as harmony in the surroundings. It is highly effective mantra which has got the power  to  destroy the unwanted  creations in the human mind.

World peace is possible if every inhabitant of this world chants panchakshari without any expectations. Shivam has got the power to make the people positive by destroying the negativity  for the sustenance of peaceful life.
